5 Tips to Make a Mini Album

Do you share my love for making Mini Albums?  They are such a fun, short project and are perfect for gifting to a friend or family member.  Today I am sharing a Mini Album that I made and Five Tips on how to make a Mini Album.  I also have included a video that demonstrates exactly how I put this Album together using Kaisercraft's gorgeous new "Christmas Jewel" Collection.

I have had some Graduation photographs on my desktop waiting and waiting for the right paper collection.  When I saw the beautiful purple shades in "Christmas Jewel" I knew they would be a perfect match.  Even though this is a Christmas Collection there are some "un-Christmas like" papers included that could be utilised in an "un-Christmas like" project.  If you have been waiting for a purple collection, this is such a beautiful set, so many lovely shades of purple and with silver trimmings.  It really is divine.  Alternatively, if you have some lovely Christmas Photos that you would love to make into a Mini Album, you could easily choose the more "Christmassy themed" papers from the collection.  You could make a Christmas Mini Album instead of a Graduation Mini Album.

Mini Album Tip #1 - Gather Your Materials

This tip might seem very obvious but, if you know what collection you are using and you have most of the bits and pieces from that collection it makes the creating process a whole lot easier!!  I chose the "Christmas Jewel" Collection because it matched the Graduation Gown of our friend in the photographs.  (Isn't she a little cutie.)  I then went through and searched my craft room for purple and silver glitter tape, co-ordinating Ink Pad and album rings.  The easiest Mini Albums I have made are when I start with a base that is already prepared for me.  This time I chose the Kaisercraft "Ticket Album".  It is a great size for 4x6 photos.

Mini Album Tip #2 - Keep Your Design Simple

To make creating a Mini Album a quicker task it helps to keep your design nice and simple.  For my Album I chose to use 3 12x12 Papers: P2362 Gilded Snowflakes, P2364 Winter Wonderland, and P2369 Glimmering for my base pages.  The Polka-dots were for the front and back Covers of the Album.  The other two papers were for the two opening spreads in the Album.  I simply cut these with a blade and glued them to the base pages of the Album.

Mini Album Tip #3 - Repeat the Same Design For Every Page

Sometimes it can be hard to think of different ideas to decorate every page of your Mini Album.  I suggest keeping the same design for every page.  This creates a lovely co-ordinating effect throughout the album and allows you to enjoy creating without too much brain strain!! For my Album I chose IT448 Ornate Damask Template and used that to decorate the pages of my album.

I also chose to cut P2365 Ornate Garden into strips and use that with Glitter Tape to decorate the middle of each page.

Mini Album Tip #4 - Select Meaningful Quotes

I do love the lovely quotes Kaisercraft use in their products and collections.  I love the look of a  meaningful quote alongside a photograph.  For this Album I used Kaisercraft's "Clear Stickers" ST928 Life and ST925 Family to fill the page opposite my photograph.

Mini Album Tip #5 - Embellish with Decorative Dies

I love Kaisercraft Decorative Dies. Every month there is a new die that I am just longing to collect.  In this project I used numerous dies to decorate and embellish the pages of this album.  Decorating with Dies is such a quick and easy way to fill space on a project.  I have listed the dies I used in this Album below, just in case you would also like to make these part of your die collection ; )
